Yesterday I watched a news report from the BBC about the iphone Apple is planning to launch this year. I have not been an apple fan and never owned an apple computer before, but I was very impressed with many innovative features come with this product, it is quite revolutionary! You can watch Steve Jobs introduces iphone at the Macworld Conference on Apple’s website. The maturation of products like iphone is clearly a result of lots of technologies becoming increasingly convergent in the IT industry. Iphone would have little use without internet, internet would have much less value without e-commerce and search engines, it is the platform where different technologies can work together and thereby enhance each other produces value. Yes, integration is where the innovative effort are increasingly focusing on, it’s making the already flat platform even more flatter. With this trend continues, and in fact at an accelerating speed, I think in few years time the whole landscape of internet will be very different from today. Now Im getting worried that my book addiction problem may get worse as in the very near future I’ll be able to complete the process of searching, ordering and then starting to read an ebook or listen to an audiobook all on my handset in a matter of few minutes. This sounds crazy, but it’s going to happen very soon!
